Good evening. It's another scorcher in Lynn as the Holyoke Sox get set to take on the Navs in game 3 of this young season.

Pregame Notes: North Shore Navigators (1-1) vs. Holyoke Sox (0-1)
-LISTEN TO/WATCH THE GAME
-This is the first year for the all-new Holyoke franchise, the Sox, after the North Shore Navigators franchise - then the Giants - moved out of Holyoke at the end of last season.
-The Sox are 0-1 on the year, having lost in their opener in Keene against the Swamp Bats, 7-3. Alex Hilliard knocked in all 3 Holyoke runs on a 3 run homer.
-Rob Gariano got the loss for Holyoke in the opener, giving up 5 runs in 4 innings of work.
-Lineup changes: Zurcher is up to the 2 hole, with McNaughton sliding in behind Graham at #5. Hill is back in behind the plate and Geason is back at 3rd.
-Fun with small sample sizes: The Navs' team OBP through two games is a paltry .254. On the flip side, the team ERA is 1.00, with 9 hits allowed in 18 innings.

Pitchers
-Wayde Kitchens makes his debut tonight for the Navs. The 6'5'', 270 hurler had a dominating season for Chapman U. He went 9-0 with a 1.10 ERA and 70 Ks in 73.1 innings.
-Justin Albert for Holyoke: went 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA for the Vermont Catamounts. 62 K, 25 BB, opponents hitting .262.

LIVE UPDATES
9:25 - Ballgame. McNaughton whiffs to end it. 4-0 Holyoke, final. See you all Wednesday night from beautiful (I hope) Sanford, Maine.

9:21 - Provencher just singled with one out.

Tells the story so far.

9:16 - To the bottom of the 9th we go.

9:11 - Little just grounded into a double play to end the inning and end the threat... 4-0 Holyoke, end 8. Looks like it's gonna be a 1-2 homestand.

9:06 - Chris Kowalski just came in and put out the fire, retiring two in a row to end the 8th. Now, Kuehl just led off the home half with a single. The start of something good?

8:55 - It's getting ugly now. Hillard just smoked an RBI double to the wall to make it 4-0. Not good.

8:54 - Holyoke takes a 3-0 lead here in the 8th on an RBI double. Krull is in to pitch for North Shore.

8:42 - Gallo worked out of a bases-loaded jam; hopefully the team can take that momentum into the bottom of the 7th. 9 outs to go.

8:33 - And that'll do it for The Kitchen. Coming in to pitch, #44 Mike Gallo. Gallo got the win the other day; the Navs hope he can keep them in position to win today. Kitchens' line: 6.2 IP 5 H 2 ER (so far) 4 K 2 BB.

8:32 - Allgire ropes an RBI single - 2-0 Holyoke.

8:31 - With runners on 2nd + 3rd and one out, Sean Killeen hit a broken bat grounder to 3rd. The runners were going on contact, and Geason was able to scoop it up and throw home to get the 2nd out. There are now runners on the corners with 2 out, 1-0 Holyoke in the top of the 7th.

8:19 - Graham swings at the first pitch and chops it back to the pitcher; inning over.

8:19 - Provencher smoked one to deep left, but it was nothing but a loud out; Little advances to 3rd on the out.

8:18 - Zurcher struck out looking on a marginal call; it's up to Provencher here.

8:16 - Zurcher is trying desperately to get a bunt down, but he's now down in the count 1-2. In the process, Little stole 2nd. It looks like Zurcher is up to swing now.

8:14 - Justin Little just squeaked out (another) bunt single to leadoff the bottom of the 6th for the Navs.

8:09 - Bolden for Holyoke just hit a pop up to shallow left that went in and out of Geason's glove, allowing a run to score to put the Sox on top 1-0 in the top of the 6th.

8:00 - Halfway home, and still scoreless.

7:53 - McNaughton rang a two-out double off the wall in left, but Hill stranded him with a weak groundout to first base. Inning over - still scoreless through 4. Did someone put on a replay of last night's game?

7:49 - Steve DelVecchio, my colleague and writer extraordinnaire, just made a game-saving observation: the lights were off. We alerted owner Phil Rosenfield and the lights are now on and ready for night baseball.

7:41 - The Navs got two on with two out but Albert got out of it.

7:36 - Tyler Kuehl just became the first Navs baserunner of the game, singling with 1 out here in the bottom of the 3rd.

7:27 - Still scoreless through 2.

7:11 - The Navs go down in order in the bottom of the first.

7:01 - We're underway. John Hill passed his first test of the night behind the plate, catching Lombardozzi stealing second base.

6:58 The Kitchen has taken the mound, taking his warmup tosses. It looks like he's got a sick curveball.

6:34 Holyoke just finished taking infield practice. Coach Falcon was bantering with the Holyoke coach: "It looks like you've practiced your fungo bat skills."

6:21 It's looking like another sparse crowd tonight, although it is early..

6:13 Here we go, folks. Welcome back. The Navs are stretching out in the 3rd-base foul territory.
