Gameday - G6: 6/13 vs. Lowell, 7 PM

Chat live with us during the game: email SID@nsnavs.com, josephj@nsnavs.com or AIM: NSNAVS

The Navs hope to extend their two-game winning streak tonight, battling in-state rival Lowell All-Americans at Fraser Field. It's Comcast Reading Program night, so we're expecting a big crowd.

Pregame Notes: North Shore Navigators (3-2) vs. Lowell All-Americans (0-3)
-LISTEN TO/WATCH THE GAME
-Lowell is coming off two consecutive off-days after a rocky 0-3 start to the season. Their last game was a 13-4 drubbing at the hands of the Keene Swamp Bats in Keene. Starter Alex Szymanski couldn't get past the second inning, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits. The bullpen didn't fare any better - Jeff Maloney got shelled for 5 runs in an inning of work.
-Lowell has a Lynn native: Cory Moore, a 6'5'' right handed pitcher from Curry College. He's given up 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings of relief work.
-Lowell's leading hitter, Michael Baillarge, is 5-for-12 on the season with a home run.
-Ouch: Lowell's team batting average so far this season is .153. Their opponents are hitting .340. The Navs are hitting .248 so far.

LIVE UPDATES

-9:35 PM: Navs win, 5-3!

-9:31 PM: Chris Prescott is in, looking for the save. He has one out so far in the 9th.

-9:17 PM: Kowalski gets a backwards-K to end the inning.

-9:14 PM: A passed ball brings in a run, making it 5-3 NS.

-9:12 PM: Chris Kowalski is in with 2 outs and 2 on in the 8th.

-8:58 PM: BAM! Nick Belcher clears the bases with a 3-run double off the wall in left. It looked like it had a chance of getting out, but no such luck. 5-2 Navs.

-8:56: The Navs have loaded the bases with two outs for Nick Belcher.

-8:43 PM: 2-2, top 7.

-8:35 PM: Markowitz retires the side in order.

-8:32 PM: The Navs turned it around in the bottom of the 5th, scoring two runs to tie the game. Peter Fatse picked up an RBI single as part of the 2-run rally. Jason Markowitz is in to the game now for NS.

-8:02 PM: Sorry all, we temporarily lost connection. We're back, and the news is no better - 2-0 Lowell going into the top of the 5th inning. Gallo is pitching okay, he's just not getting any offensive support (2 hits thru 4 for NS).

-7:25 PM: Gallo settles down to pitch a quick second inning. Hill guns down another would-be- base stealer - the guy is money behind the plate.

-7:18 PM: Derek Trent pops out to strand two, keeping the score one-nil (I've been watching a lot of the Euro 2008 tournament) through one full inning

-7:12 PM: Lowell put up 1 run on 3 hits in the top of the first.

-7:04 PM: There goes the perfect game. McKenna smokes a leadoff single to center.

-6:59 PM: Looks like about 350 fans in attendance.

-6:53 PM: I'm disappointed to announce that it's another small crowd tonight as of this point in time, although there are more people on their way in. The good news: 90% of the crowd is kids, so they're making a lot of noise as the Navs are being introduced.

-6:44 PM: Here's something you don't see every day: both teams' first basemen are their #9 hitters.

-6:40 PM: We got lineups. See above. Graham gets the night off - McCrann in at first base. Trent starting in left, Provencher to DH.

-6:19 PM: There are two guys taking infield down at first base, neither of whom is Kent Graham; I'm guessing he'll be DHing.

-6:15 PM: The participants of the Comcast Reading Program are streaming into Fraser now and taking their seats. Not a huge crowd yet, but already bigger than the last three, undoubtedly.

-5:30 PM: Lowell's also got the blue-and-white color scheme - blue shirts with white script - so I keep getting confused as to who's currently taking batting practice. It's Lowell.

-5:18 PM: Humorous update from batting practice: Chris Kowalski dropped a bomb to deep left field. The man does it all.
