LIVE UPDATES:

-10:18 PM: Navs win, Navs win! Kowalski gives up two runs, but gets the job done. 8-4 final. Have a good night everyone, and thanks for reading. Go Celtics!

-9:52 PM: We go to the 9th - Kowalski is still on the hill. Let's see how he responds to the long layoff.

-9:51 PM: The wheels have come off for Sanford here in the 8th. It's now 8-2 after John Hill rung an RBI double into the corner in right.

-9:46 PM: McNaughton hits a sac fly, then the Mainers make a wild pitch, and two more runs come home... 7-2.

-9:43 PM: Kyle Geason punches an RBI single into left to make it 5-2.

-9:42 PM: The Navs have added a 4th run here in the bottom of the 8th:Derek Trent singled to left before giving way to pinch runner Justin Little, who stole second base. Mike Provencher dropped down a sacrifice bunt attempt, but the throw to first was booted by Groth, allowing Provencher to reach and bringing home Little with the fourth North Shore run.

-9:35 PM: Kowalski pitches a 1-2-3 eighth inning to keep it 3-2.

-9:19 PM: Kowalski strikes out two to end the inning, and we go to the home half of the seventh.

-9:09 PM: Chris "BC Guy" Kowalski is in with one out in the 7th. Yeahhhh.

-9:00 PM: 3-2 Navs - Fatse doubled with two outs, then reached 3rd on a passed ball. McCrann hit a grounder to first that kicked off of Groth's glove, allowing Fatse to score.

-8:54 PM: Greenberg grounds to 1st, McCrann extends, stops it, and throws to Markowitz covering to end the inning. A great escape. We're stiill tied here in the middle of the 6th inning.

-8:53 PM: The big lefty whiffs Reed, and there's 2 out in the inning for Will Greenberg.

-8:51 PM: Big strikeout for Markowitz as he fans Casario. 1 down.

-8:48 PM: Jeez... first two guys walk to lead off the 6th. Casario up with two on, nobody out.

-8:46 PM: Ahh, there goes that. Groth walks to lead off the inning.

-8:44 PM: Lefty Jason Markowitz in to pitch for the Navs. With 2 of the next 3 batters being lefties, it's a good move. Wayde Kitchens' line: 5 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 3 K, 2 BB.

-8:40 PM: What an odd game. The Navs have tied the ballgame at 2 here in the bottom of the 5th. The 4th pickoff attempt to first got away, allowing McNaughton to sprint to 2nd and turn for 3rd. The throw over to 3rd base then flew over the head of Hopkins, and McNaughton was able to score. It wasn't elegant, but it was a run - and we're tied.

-8:35 PM: McNaughton is money leading off an inning. He just singled to center to get the home half of the 5th underway.

The big man on the hill.

-8:32 PM: Kitchens gets out of the inning without any further damage. 2-1 Sanford, middle 5.

-8:28 PM: Sanford has taken the lead. Harris hit a grounder to short that looked like it had a chance to be an inning-ending double play ball. The throw to 2nd was on time for the 2nd out of the inning, but the throw to first skipped past McCrann, allowing Greenberg to score. 2-1 Sanford, 2 outs in the top of the 5th.

-8:25 PM: Micowski hit a soft grounder to 1st - McCrann charged it, threw home, and gunned down Reed at the plate. It's still 1-1, and Kitchens is now in a much more manageable situation: runners on first and second base with one out.

-8:22 PM: Trouble here for the Kitchen - runners on first and third with nobody out.

-8:19 PM: Leadoff single for Greenberg - 1 on, 0 out in the top of the 5th, score tied at 1.

-8:18 PM: I think people are bored with Seabiscuit, the Amazing Frisbee-Catching Dog. I think it's time for some new on-field entertainment.

-8:04 PM: NS has tied the game on an RBI 4-3 groundout by Nick Belcher. After 3 full it's 1-1.

-7:43 PM: Navigators fly into the everyday 3-2-6 double play to end the 2nd inning. Runners were on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Zurcher popped up to medium deep foul territory on the first base side. Groth ranged over to make the play. The runner at 3rd tagged up and went halfway down the line before thinking better of it. The throw came in to the catcher, who noticed the runner on 1st breaking for 2nd; he threw to Harris to retire him to end the inning. Bizarre. Still 1-0 Mainers.

-7:25 PM: Belcher grounds out 5-3 to end the inning, stranding McNaughton at 3rd base.

-7:17 PM: McNaughton rips a single to centerfield to lead off the home half.

-7:14 PM: Groth pokes a single past the dive of Belcher into left field - one run scores, but Fatse's throw to the plate is in time to retire Harris for the final out of the inning. 1-0 Sfd.

-7:12 PM: Kitchens strikes out back-to-back batters to get two outs in the inning.

-7:06 PM: Harris sprays a single to right putting runners on first and third with nobody out.

-7:00 PM: And we're off, promptly at 7.

-6:59 PM: Lineups are finally up and we're ready to go. Kent Graham gets the night off, John Hill batting 3rd, Zurcher playing short. Belcher moves over to 3rd, while Geason is back on the bench.

So far you've complained about the fans, attendance and between inning entertainment. And you represent the team. AND, let me guess, you go to B.C.

I have two policies for this blog:
1. Have fun
2. Be honest

I'm not going to take myself too seriously. We have enough people who do that.
