PROVENCHER HITS WALK-OFF SINGLE; NAVS WIN

NA 0 0 0 / 1 1 1 / 0 0 0 - 3 8 0
NS 0 0 0 / 0 0 1 / 2 0 1 - 4 7 2

9:07 PM: PROVENCHER KNOCKS A BASE HIT PAST THE SHORTSTOP AND INTO LEFT FIELD! GARTON CROSSES THE PLATE! THE NAVIGATORS WIN!

9:03 PM: White throws exactly one pitch - he came in to face the lefty and couldn't get him out. Now pitching - righty Greg Robinson. Let's see if Provencher can crack him.

9:03 PM: Little is hit by the first pitch he sees - it's up to Mike Provencher.

9:00 PM: New pitcher for the SteepleCats, lefty from CCSU Donny White.

8:59 PM: Belcher flares it to left, but Donato is there to stab it and there are two outs. Can Justin Little end it?

8:58 PM: Belcher is behind in the count 0-2..... he lays off a tough curveball and it's now 1-2.

8:57 PM: ...and he works the walk. Time for a conference at the mound - two on, one out, and Nick Belcher at the plate with a chance to be the hero.

8:56 PM: Zurch gets ahead in the count, 3-0...

8:56 PM: Garton walks. It's Zurcher's turn.

8:53 PM: He pops out to center. It's Josh Garton's turn. He tied the game - can he win it?

8:52 PM: Kent Graham leads off the 9th for the good guys... and takes ball one.

8:51 PM: First pitch swingin', and Malloy flies out to left. The Navs escape a major jam and will now have the chance teo walk off with a win. Derek Shaw to the hill for North Adams.

8:49 PM: Jason Markovitz comes on to face Malloy. Kowalski's line : 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 0 runs so far, responsible for all 3 baserunners.

8:47 PM: Kowalski gets a HUGE out. With the infield in, Parker grounds out to 3rd and there's 2 outs. They will now intentionally walk Van Horn to load the bases with two out.

8:44 PM: We've had a negative turn of events here. With 1 out and a runner on first, Semeniuk chopped one down the third base line; Belcher scooped it and the Navs appeared to turn a 5-4-3 double play. But the ump ruled it foul, and Semeniuk went on to work a walk. Kowalski then threw a wild pitch to put runners on 2nd + 3rd with 1 out for Parker.

8:35 PM: Down go the Navs, 1-2-3. It's gonna have to be a walkoff win. The Navs haven't had one yet this year. Time to change that.

8;34 PM: Costello pinch hits for Pesanello and lines out to short.

8:29 PM: On Kowalski's first pitch, Smith takes off and is caught stealing for the 2nd out. Hoilman then Ks swinging to end the inning.

8:26 PM: Game on - Kowalski is making his warmup tosses.

8:14 PM: After a 33 minute delay, the tarp is coming off. We are probably 5-10 minutes away from resumption of play.

7:31 PM: ALERT: We've only seen a few drops of rain, but due to ominous lightning in the not-too-distant horizon, the players have been called off the field.

Statement -"With severe thunder and lighting heading this way, we are protecting the ballplayers by keeping them off the field for approximately thirty minutes. Hopefully, at that time, we will be able to resume the game."

:30 PM: Kowalski comes in to pitch with a runner on first and one out.

7:24 PM: Now pitching for North Shore - Ryan Krull.

Jimmy Lisowski went 7 innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, striking out 5 and walking 1. He also balked in a run.

7:23 PM: Provencher grounds out to short to end the inning. But not before the Navs tie it!

7:20 PM: Now pitching, Derek Shaw. Clegg's line -6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 K, 3 BB, so far charged with 3 runs - the two men on base are his responsibility

7:19 PM: Little walks on four pitches, and that'll be the evening for Clegg.

7:17 PM: Geason is replaced on the basepaths by speedy pinch-runner Jesse Bruinsma.

7:16 PM: Geason doubles to left, his second hit of the game.

7:15 PM: WE HAVE A NEW GAME! Josh Garton hits a mammoth 2-run bomb to deep right, and it's 3-3.

7:03 PM: Pesanello strikes out on a low pitch with runners on 2nd and 3rd, ending the threat.

6:59 PM: Provencher grounds it to the 2nd baseman Van Horn, who makes a very curious decision, trying to throw out Geason advancing to 3rd instead of getting the sure out at first. Geason slides in safely, Zurcher trots home, and Provencher is aboard with 1 out.

6:57 PM: Little Ks swinging for the first out of the inning. It'll be up to the 2-3 punch of Provencher and McNaughton.

6:56 PM: Zurcher walks and Geason singles to get things started in the bottom of the 6th.

6:47 PM: Delgado hits a hard shot off the glove of Geason and into left field, scoring Hoilman; 3-0 NA.

6:41 PM: Graham rocks a 2-out double to left-center, but Garton grounds out to first to end the inning.

6:37 PM: Fans continue to trickle into Fraser - it's filling up quite nicely. Local band Zephyr will perform after tonight's game, and a fireworks display will cap off the evening.

6:29 PM: Van Horn pokes a single up the middle, bringing Semeniuk plateward; 2-0, 'Cats.

6:26 PM: Rough start tot he game for Geason, who makes his 2nd error of the game, allowing Semeniuk to reach to start the 5th. Parker then sac bunts Semeniuk over to 2nd base.

6:15 PM: Lisowski picks up the Navs' second balk of the year, and the first of the run scoring variety, making it 1-0 North Adams.

6:04 PM: Geason bounces into a double play to end the inning.

6:02 PM: Zurcher gets a 1-out rally going with a bunt single down the first base line.

5:59 PM: Lisowski fans Malloy for the 3rd out.

5:58 PM: Lisowski picks off Greg Van Horn for the second out of the third inning.

5:52 PM: Through two quick innings, we're scoreless. Seabiscuit is now putting in yeoman's work under the hot sun.

5:40 PM: Make that three in a row, as McNaughton grounds out.

5:40 PM: Clegg has retired the first two Navs batters in order.

5:39 PM: There's a pretty good crowd on hand at the park tonight, especially given the extreme heat and the multiple reschedulings of the game.

5:35 PM: Mitchell Clegg (1-1, 3.04) gets the ball for North Adams.

5:33 PM: Navs starter Jimmy Lisowski gets off to a great start, retiring North Adams in order.

5:30 PM: Good evening, and welcome to Fraser Field on a steamy late afternoon (93 degrees at first pitch). Tonight, the Navs take on the North Adams SteepleCats, owner of the coolest jerseys in the NECBL. I'm partial to the black-and-gold color scheme.

OK - since you have some "down time" - how about some pictures of the players waving to all us poor folks at home who are not able to make it to the games:)

The boys have all retreated into the dugout, unfortunately. It's raining pretty hard at the moment.

Oops, that was me. Z was logged in on my computer.

Is it still raining? Do you think that they will finish the game??

Joe Grav said...

They are about to remove the tarp
